How you feel is important

Have you ever thought about going to a foreign country to work or study? It's a great way to find out what life is like in another part of the world. However, it takes time to get used to a different way of life and it can be very difficult at first. These are the feelings you usually experience.
At first, you are very happy to be in the new country. You are surprised and excited by all the new sights, sounds, smells, and tastes, and the people seem friendly and helpful. This is called the "honeymoon stage!"
However, after a few weeks, you start to feel angry and upset. Everything is different! You have problems every day with the language, shopping, and transportation, and you complain about the people, food, and weather. Because communication is difficult, you feel lonely and bored. You miss your own country.
Finally, usually after a few months, you feel relaxed and happy in the new country. You can speak the language better and you are used to the way of life. Little things that made you worried and stressed before, you now find funny. You can see that the new country is not better or worse than your own country — just different.
